15 EASY WAYS TO MAKE YOUR KITCHEN LOOK POSH

Lighting is Taking a More Detailed Approach in kitchen design

Kitchens are absolutely turning into more of a livable, comfortable space in our homes. They are going from a clean workspace to more of a comfortable, decorated livable space.

One thing you are going to notice a lot of this year is tiny lamps in the kitchen. I love mood lighting, who doesn’t? 😉 I love lighting in general, and lamps are one of my favorite things to include in any space.

Cute little lamps placed in corners, or underneath upper cabinets really give off a warm, comfortable cozy vibe to your kitchen.

This trend not only introduces mood lighting. It also adds a touch of personal style and charm to the kitchen space, and I am totally here for it.

You can really bring in a new element by decorating a little corner of your space using a lamp.

Countertop Cabinets Kitchen design Trend

Another trend that you will see everywhere this year is the countertop cabinet trend.

When your upper cabinets actually sit right on top of your countertops, they look so timeless, and beautiful. It’s like you’re adding another layer of storage to your kitchen, which is always a win.

Sure, it might nibble a bit at your countertop space, but the trade-off is totally worth it when you see how gorgeous it looks. It’s all about that classic, seamless vibe that makes your kitchen feel complete and organized.

It is a clever way of kind of framing out your kitchen so that you don’t just have a whole strip of upper cabinets and a whole strip of lower ones.

The design is all about maximizing every nook and cranny, especially those corners that often go unused. You can stash away appliances, store your stash of snacks, and basically, make your kitchen work even harder for you.

I don’t think it’s too trendy of a thing to try out, so why not?

Curves, Arches, and Circles in Kitchen Design

Now, a huge trend that’s been happening since 2021 in interior design in general, is curves; Curves, arches, and circles. And it’s actually coming into kitchen design.

Having curved islands is very on trend, having arches as doorways to your kitchen is very on trend.

If you can bring in that soft shape in your kitchen, it will really make for a very on-trend look.

 TIP

If you want to include this trend in your kitchen but you’re not doing a kitchen renovation or starting fresh, you can still include curves.

You can style your open shelving with curved round decorative features.

The curved trend is definitely something I’m on board with. I just love the look of it, and it really stands out as a new trend for 2024.

Weathered Subway Tile Backsplash

Let’s get right into the kitchen backsplash. The backsplash is an area of the kitchen that you can constantly change up, easily update, and work in existing trends.

So right now, a big trend that you’re going to be seeing is weathered subway tile. I would say subway tile is always going to be timeless, but there was a huge part of the last few years that everyone was doing; and that is, white flat subway tiles with either dark grout or white grout, and it just kind of became a lot.

The new thing that’s happening right now is that we are straying away from the flat white subway tile and moving towards more of a weathered, textured, unique look where all the tiles are not perfect.

They’re not all the exact same color, they’re a little bit more of a slimmer look, and they come in different colors, finishes.

Full-Height Stone Backsplash

Now another full-height trend that you can include in your kitchen is a full-height stone backsplash.

This is when you get that seamless look up from your countertops rubbing up onto your wall and creating a seamless backsplash.

It’s very on trend to choose a stone backsplash like this, even more on trying to choose a very bold veining in your stone. It is going to be something that’s on trend. Now, I can’t say it’s going to be on trend for the future.

 TIP

I find stone trends come and go very quickly, so I think it’s a lot safer to choose something that’s a little less bold.

But if you’re super into design and you really want to be bold and choose something exciting this year, go for bold veining.

Add that dimension and excitement into your kitchen through backsplash. It’s something that you can do in every style as well.

If you’re looking for a traditional-looking kitchen, a modern-looking kitchen, maybe even a farmhouse kitchen, you can wrap your stone up the wall like that, and it will look amazing every single time.

Stone Shelving

Now, I would call this next trend stone shelving, and it’s pretty much using the exact same material that you used on your countertops up your backsplash and continuing that material onto your shelving.

Open shelving is definitely still in this year; I think it will continue to be. But this is something that’s very modern, very seamless, and very high-end looking.

It breaks up the wall of your kitchen by creating some space so it’s not all upper cabinets. You kind of get this look, and it really just ties together the whole kitchen.

So, if you are looking to add open shelving in your kitchen or even just a little ledge, take your countertop up your backsplash and continue it onto that shelf.

Three-Tone Kitchen Design

Now over the past few years, we’ve seen the all-wood kitchen, the all-white kitchen, the all-black kitchen, the colored kitchen, and even the two-tone kitchen.

But I would say this year is actually all about the three-tone kitchen.

That’s where you can use three different cabinet finishes to create your entire kitchen design. You can have a color on your island; you can do black lower cabinets, white upper cabinets; you can mix in three different finishes to go a long way and create a really beautiful dynamic look.

It’s so interesting; it’s bold, but it’s also somewhat timeless.

It’s a little bit of everything that we’ve done over the past few years, but now mixing it together and creating a brand new look.

Let me know down below in the comments what you think of three-tone kitchens. I know some people might say it’s a bit much; some people might love it, so let me know what you think.

Integrated Hood & Oversized Plaster Hoods

Now, if you’re planning your kitchen makeover right now or renovating your space right now, you’re probably having to make a decision on what you’re going to do for your vent hood.

If you want to do something decorative or something that has a little bit more design thought put into it, you could do an integrated hood.

An integrated hood is when you wrap the same material around the hood and kind of make it look seamless into the wall.

You can wrap it in your subway tile; you can wrap it in the stone that you’re using in your backsplash, or you can make it look integrated into the wall by painting it.

An oversized hood is definitely in style right now, especially plaster hoods. You can do a beautiful shape, a beautiful huge scale, but finish it in plaster, and it will just look timeless and very on trend.

Statement Appliances

Statement appliances are definitely in style this year.

You can go for colored appliances; you can mix metals; you can really add a lot of thought and attention towards your stove, your fridge, and really make them feel like a decorative moment in your space.

So, if you really want to take your kitchen to the next level, make sure it’s really on trend this year. Pick some statement appliances; pick some appliances that are going to stand out and act as a beautiful design feature.

Mixing Metals in Hardware and Finishes

Now let’s get into hardware and finishes. If you are choosing to switch out your cabinet hardware with new ones, you can consider mixing your metals this year.

Over the past few years, we have not seen a lot of mixed metals but we’ve seen a lot of white and silver kitchens, white and gold, and now is the time to actually mix your metals.

You can do an accent kitchen faucet that’s in a brass finish; you can do black hardware on your cabinets, and you can do silver lighting.

Now, if they have different moments to shine, I am absolutely loving every single one of these kitchen design trends. I feel like they’re really leaning more towards a classic – timeless look, and I’m all for that.

Let me know down below in the comments which one of these kitchen design trends is included in your kitchen right now. What’s something you might want to add to your kitchen, and which one of these design trends this year is your favorite.
